The Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation was established in 1995 to help meet the growing needs of the College by identifying and mobilizing broad-based regional sources and resources. Recognizing the diverse educational objectives that comprise the OTC mission, and its primary focus on job skill education and training, the Foundation strives to develop an expanding financial support network for the College and its students. Fine Arts Scholarship Recipient

Kayla Robertson received a Fine Arts Supply Scholarship for the Fall 2008 semester. She won the Senior Award at the Mid-Lakes High School Art Show hosted by Ozarks Technical Community College.

 

 

 


ASA Tool Scholarship Recipients

ASA Skills Winners
In April, 66 OTC students participated in the State SkillsUSA competition. The students who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the skills and written portions of the competition were awarded Tool Scholarships. These scholarships were made possible by the Automotive Service Association (ASA) of Springfield. O’Reilly Automotive also donated tools for the winning students.

 


President of Banta Foods creates scholarship through OTC Foundation

Culinary studentChuck Banta, president and CEO of Banta Foods, has contributed $11,000 to the OTC Foundation. Of the $11,000, $10,000 will be used to create the Charles T. Banta, Sr., Scholarship, benefiting students in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality programs at Ozarks Technical Community College.  The remaining $1,000 was awarded this semester to four students, each of whom received a $250 scholarship.

This is the first scholarship awarded to the Culinary Arts and Hospitality students at Ozarks Technical Community College.  This semester’s recipients were students from those programs who worked during the Banta Golf Tournament, held this past July at the Millwood Country Club.

The OTC Foundation held its first golf tournament on August 27, 2007, at Highland Springs Country Club. The Foundation raised nearly $12,000 for student scholarships, endowments for new programs, and capital improvements. We had 27 teams that participated in the tournament.

The 2nd Annual OTC Foundation Golf Tournament will be Monday, August 25, 2008 at Highland Springs Country Club.


New Foundation Board President

Outgoing President At the annual OTC Foundation meeting, outgoing Foundation Board President Jerry Jared was recognized for his leadership during the 2006-2007 academic year.  Dr. Marshall Gordon will assume duties as the next OTC Foundation President September 7, 2007.

OTC Automotive Technology lab named in honor of Ozarks Antique Auto Club

On Wednesday, October 25, 2006, Ozarks Technical Community College named the automotive technology lab in honor of the Ozarks Antique Auto Club.  

The dedication of the Ozarks Antique Auto Club Automotive Technology Lab is in recognition of a donation/pledge of approximately $85,000 from the OAAC to the OTC Foundation.  This endowment will provide scholarships for automotive technology students.

"The students in the automotive technology program are the ones who will benefit most from this donation," said Cliff Davis, vice president for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the OTC Foundation. "We are pleased to dedicate this lab in honor of the Ozarks Antique Auto Club."


OTC Receives Grant from 3M Foundation

3M CheckOn behalf of 3M, Carolyn Williams, Human Resources Manager, presents a check to Linda Schott, mathematics instructor and coordinator of "Keeping Your Options Open"; Rosa Kavanaugh, assistant dean of education and founder of "Keeping Your Options Open"; and Stephanie Brown, director of development and alumni relations at OTC.

The grant will be used to fund "Keeping Your Options Open," a program designed for sixth grade girls and boys to demonstrate the important role education, namely math and science, plays in their lives and in their future. The program targets school districts that have below average college attendance and whose college-bound students are often the first in their family to attend.


Dr. Norman K. MyersThe OTC Foundation received a $1,000 donation to the Nina Myers Memorial Scholarship from George K. Baum and Company on behalf of Greg Bricker. The Nina Myers Memorial Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Myers August 25, 2004. This will be the first semester the scholarship will be awarded to an OTC student. Foundation honored

On May 12, 2006 the OTC Board of Trustees joined the OTC Foundation Board of Directors at Foundation's Annual Meeting. The Boards discussed the South Campus, upcoming events, and potential new scholarships for students. See more pictures from the meeting.

 

Dr. Myers AwardDuring the annual OTC Foundation meeting Dr. Norman K. Myers was honored for his service to the Foundation Board since 1995. Dr. Myers will retire June 30,2006.

Sixty-two Students Receive Spring Scholarships

This spring the OTC Foundation awarded 62 scholarships to students totaling $48,814; a 13.2% increase from spring of 2005.

Recipients are pursuing a wide spectrum of goals ranging from general education to customized training. Through these scholarships, the Foundation will help alleviate some of the financial burdens students face when pursuing their educational goals; being able to afford an education is priceless.

Coca-Cola Contributes to the OTC Foundation
