OTC Middle College

A Partnership with Springfield Public Schools

Mission Statement

To provide a contemporary, academic pathway for Springfield Public Schools students to earn a high school diploma and college credits while developing career and technical skills to facilitate a seamless transition to the workforce or post-secondary education.

Purpose

Springfield Public Schools and Ozarks Technical Community College collaboratively established the Middle College to provide an outreach for underperforming, underrepresented students to realize their potential within a contemporary college environment while achieving their high school diploma, learning career and technical skills, earning college credits, participating in internships, and developing leadership skills. This program will increase academic pathways for greater student achievement and persistence to graduation while maximizing a student's potential for success outside of the traditional high school setting.

The Middle College is for underperforming students that are perceived to have greater academic abilities and could achieve at a higher level than his or her present performance but for an array of internal or external reasons is not reaching his/her potential.

The Middle College is for underrepresented students that are determined to be in a group that generally lacks accessibility to higher education due to several contributing factors or conditions including, but not limited to, ethnic and minority groups, first generation college students, low socioeconomic factors, non-traditional career choices, family difficulties, and other life circumstances that may inhibit one's ability to attend college.
